When King Willem died in 1890 Queen Wilhelmina (1880-1962) took over the crown. Queen Vilhelmine of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau, was reigning queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from 1890 to 1948. With a reign of almost 58 years, she is the longest-serving regent to date since independence in 1815. In 1891 the first series of stamps depicting Queen Wilhelmina was issued. Todays stamp is the 2,50 guilders issue with a CV of 550 euros for a mint copy.
