In 1908, a series of 18 stamps was issued on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Josef. It was the first time in Austria’s history that persens other than Franz Joseph were depicted on Austrian stamps. Today’s stamp shows Maria Theresia, who was regent of the Habsburg Heritage from 1740 to 1780. She was reigning queen of Bohemia, Hungary and Croatia, archduchess of Austria and duchess of Parma. Through her marriage, she was also German-Roman Empress 1745-80 and Grand Duchess of Tuscany.
